Our client, a respected Bronx-based nonprofit organization, is seeking a Staff Attorney to join a dedicated legal team protecting New Yorkers from eviction and housing instability. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to serve on the front lines of the fight for housing justice, supporting low-income families in one of the most diverse and vibrant communities in the city. Only ONE year of experience required in litigation - practice area does not matter.

What You’ll Do:

  • Be a courtroom advocate: Represent clients facing eviction in Bronx Housing Court through litigation and negotiation.
  • Fight for housing stability: Counsel clients and develop legal strategies that help families stay in their homes.
  • Handle meaningful cases: Take full ownership of a dynamic caseload, including non-payment and holdover proceedings, administrative hearings, and appeals.
  • Empower communities: Lead outreach, legal education workshops, and trainings to inform tenants of their rights and strengthen community resilience.
  • Collaborate for impact: Work closely with social workers, advocates, and housing counselors in a holistic, client-centered model.
  • Create lasting change: Draft motions, orders, stipulations, and engage in strategic litigation to influence housing outcomes at a systemic level.

Why This Role Is Exciting:

  • Hybrid Flexibility: Enjoy a primarily remote work schedule with meaningful in-person engagement in court and on-site one day a week.
  • Be part of a mission: Join a nonprofit with a strong reputation for advocacy, community impact, and supporting underserved populations.
  • Mentorship & Growth: Early-career attorneys welcomed! Get hands-on experience and professional development in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Tangible Impact: See your work directly contribute to keeping families housed and stabilizing communities in need.

Who You Are:

  • Admitted to practice law in New York, or awaiting admission (recent grads welcome!)
  • Familiar with NYC housing law or eager to learn;
  • Committed to social justice, public service, and client-centered advocacy;
  • Skilled in managing time, organizing complex information, and communicating clearly;
  • Comfortable handling a busy caseload and appearing regularly in court;
  • Spanish language skills are a strong plus.
