Licensed Practical Nurse Pediatrics

TemPositions Health Care Bridgeport, CT (Onsite) Full-Time/Part-Time

Our client, a leading pediatric facility in Fairfield County, is seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide high-quality direct patient care and integral clinical support to children and adolescents. This role is essential for maintaining efficient clinic operations, patient safety, and effective communication across the healthcare team.

Responsibilities:

The LPN is responsible for a broad range of clinical and administrative tasks, including:

  • Providing direct patient care, including monitoring and recording vital signs, dressing wounds, giving injections, and providing immunizations.
  • Educating patients and families on critical health topics such as asthma medications & equipment, Epi pen use, and prescribed treatments.
  • Conducting lab tests and procedures and accurately processing all cultures.
  • Performing Triage by handling incoming calls, tasks, and off-hours service messages to provide clinical support based on urgency.
  • Administering medications and monitoring the injection list.
  • Managing administrative clinical workflow within the EHR, including monitoring and completing all Tasks for multiple offices.
  • Reviewing and prioritizing phone and task messages for physicians.
  • Processing X-Ray orders and managing prescription refills received via fax and the refill line.
  • Assisting clinicians by scribing during patient visits (unless not requested).
  • Completing required documentation such as DCF forms.
  • Maintaining inventory, including reordering vaccines, medicine, or oxygen, and managing VCF ordering and supply monitoring.
  • Ensuring patient safety by performing monthly crash cart checks and strictly complying with all HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
  • Monitoring clinician schedules, assisting with answering clinical area phones, and maintaining a clean work environment.

Requirements:

  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • Graduated from an accredited LPN or RN program with a current license in good standing in the State of Connecticut.
  • Previous nursing experience is preferred, with a preference for experience in pediatrics.
  • Strong computer skills are required (Microsoft Office Suite preferred).
  • Knowledge of EHR software is preferred.
  • Regular and prompt attendance is expected and required.
